South Africa - Book & Breakfast Initiative

Book & Breakfast Initiative

Launched early in 2024, HOPEww South Africa's Books & Breakfast Initiative aims to ease the staggeringly high rates of malnutrition and illiteracy among young children in South Africa.

Currently, 27% of South Africa's youth experience malnutrition and 81% of 4th graders cannot read for comprehension. Research shows that malnutrition hinders brain development, impacting learning and future opportunities.

The Books & Breakfast Initiative aims to ease these rates of malnutrition and illiteracy for children ages 6 months to 6 years old. For as little as $7 a month, we can provide a child with an age-appropriate reading book and 30 nutritious breakfasts.

That means, for just $84 you can bring these tangible resources to a child for an entire year.

Our dream is that eventually we will have 1,000+ children supported by this program!
